BSR-TCR Round 1 Race report

Mark Smith had a solid debut in his new Gen 2 Cupra, delivering his best results yet! A strong drive in Race 1 saw him finish in P6, a fantastic result for his first outing in the car. Race 2 a spin on slicks in the wet put him down the order but Race 3 he was running P4 for much of the race before a small error dropped him back to P8

It was a tough weekend for Stewart Lines in the Lynk & Co after hitting a curb, which caused sump and engine damage. The BSR team worked relentlessly until midnight to swap the engine, ensuring the car was ready to go on Sunday. A huge thanks to everyone involved—the hard work paid off as the car ran faultlessly the next day! With minimal running, Stewart started from the back in both races and fought his way through the field, putting in a solid performance despite the setbacks and minimal running in the car.

Frustratingly, both cars received out-of-grid position penalties in the final race.

Despite clear video evidence showing marshals directing them to a specific grid spot after a red flag, the penalties were still applied. When you’re given clear instructions by officials, follow them exactly, and still get penalized… what more can you do? 😬

Overall, a weekend of progress, perseverance, and a bit of frustration—on to the next one! 💪🏁
